アップルは９日午前１０時（日本時間１０日午前２時）から米サンフランシスコ市内で発表会を開き、腕時計型のウェアラブル端末「アップルウォッチ」を日米など９カ国・地域で４月２４日に発売すると発表した。４月１０日から予約を受け付け、この日からアップルストアの店頭で試すことができる。

　三つのモデルがあり、それぞれに大小二つの画面の大きさがある。最も安いモデルの「スポーツ」が４万２８００円（税別）からで、最も高いモデルの「エディション」は１２８万円（同）から。ベルトは交換することができる。一番軽い「スポーツ」モデルのベルト抜きの重さは２５グラム。

　歩数や心拍数など健康管理の機能のほか、電話やメールもできる。音声認識の機能を使っての文字入力や、返事を録音して送信することも可能だ。

　決済システムの「アップルペイ」（日本では未導入）を使い、時計をかざすだけでのクレジットカードの支払いや、ホテルの部屋の鍵を開けたり、飛行機のチケットを表示させたりもできる。
